Contest FAQ

Take a look at the frequently asked questions about the add-on contest.

Read the FAQs

Q: Do I need programming skills to participate?

A: Yes. You need to be familiar with Node.js.

Q: Can I take part if I don’t want to create an add-on?

A: Yes. You can apply to be a judge on the contest. You would still need technical skill, though.

Q: How are you going to select the community member judges?

A: The Stremio development team will get together and evaluate all the application forms for community member judges. We will then select the ones who have the best technical expertise and highest Stremio involvement.

Q: Can I participate both as a judge, and as an add-on developer?

A: Sadly, no. There’s a conflict of interest here, and while we trust you won’t judge your own add-on to be the best one, we’d rather keep things clean.

Q: Do I need to host the add-on I create?

A: You can if you want to, but you don’t have to. A link to the Git repository of the add-on is enough to enter the competition.

Q: Can I submit more than one add-on?

A: Absolutely! You can submit as many add-ons as you wish.

Q: Can I create an add-on that is country-specific?

A: Not only you can, but we encourage you to do that! Have a favourite Brazilian TV channel? Create an add-on for this! Fan of Korean sitcoms? Make an add-on for that!

Q: Can I get my prize in cold, hard cash?

A: No. Prizes will be paid out in Bitcoin but hey - cryptocurrency is hot right now so wouldn’t it be exciting for you to get in on it?

Q: Can I ask my friends to vote for my add-on?

A: Yes! And not just your friends - we recommend you ask your mom, your grandma and aunt Sheril to vote too, so you have an even better chance to win our community vote.

Q: What’s the answer to the Universe?

A: 42 and purple cats.
